JJ McGuigan was born in Wichita, Kansas where he currently resides. He found a passion for music at the age of 13 when he received his first drum set. He later picked up guitar and started writing songs at the age of 20. He attended Newman University where he played for the Men’s basketball team and then served as an assistant coach while attending Full Sail University.
His main focus and passion is writing songs with an emphasis on lyrical creation. He recently wrapped up a 5 song EP, Dissociatve, that was sung by Garrett Crow and is writing another album with guitarist Brian Elwick.

Let our readers know where you’re from and what style of music you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in genre terms.)
I am from Wichita Kansas. The main style of music that write is alternative rock / pop rock / and just regular rock.
Where does your inspiration come from? What motivates you to write, record and perform music?
My motivation comes from real life events and watching and observing life either directly or through documentaries. Basically just anything that is real and I can feel emotion from it.
Were you trying to accomplish anything specific with this new project? How is it different from anything else you have released?
I’m trying to get my name out there aw a songwriter mainly with this new release. It’s different because it was the first project I had professionally done at the high level that is was recorded.
How do you feel about streaming services? Do you have any attachments to physical formats: CDs, cassettes, vinyl, 8 track?
Honestly, I like all formats that get one’s music out there for people to listen to and experience.
