I studied music education and has a MA in Music Composition, a Music Teacher Certification New York State, & has a Tenured Teaching License in Orchestral Music – New York City.
I have an extensive background in music performance both as a leader and performer. I performed in many ensembles + various ensembles in the New York City Public School System.
I worked in the New York City public school system for 27 years as a music educator. I taught, conducted and has been the director of a variety of music and other disciplines including: the Jazz Band, Marching Band, Orchestra, Beginner & Intermediate Ensembles and other various music ensembles.?
I taught music theory, piano, beginners band and beginners orchestra, intermediate band and orchestra, brass, woodwind, percussion classes, music appreciation, mixed and girls choruses.
Also, I worked as an adjunct professor at Hunter College teaching Percussion skills to Master Classes.
I Started writing songs when he was 14 years old. Writing both the music & lyrics. I wrote & performed music in many genres. I have eclectic tastes from Classical to Jazz to Popular Music.
I now have a project including Pop, Dance, Indie-Pop & Indie Rock.
Who or what influences your playing and/or writing styles? Also, what motivates you to keep creating?
Almost everyone inspires me. Even beginner students inspire me. I love music & all kinds of styles. I grew up listening to rock music so I believe that had the greatest interest, yet I also love Jazz. Yet, my biggest inspiration is girl I once knew, she is my muse!
What was the last song you listened to?
Today I listened to “You Can’t Do That” by the Beatles. Almost everything they did is inspiring!
Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what are one or two of the biggest challenges you face when trying to attract listeners to your music?
There are so many people trying to create music, it’s very difficult to get people to hear your music and see your music videos. Everybody wants money to promote you, so you really have to do a lot of experimenting and be frugal when spending on promotion.
Do you gig, tour or perform through any live streaming services? Where can music lovers see you perform?
Well, at this time I am working on getting a band together, but people can see some of my work on youtube or my website.
Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more of your music?
I would guess the best is on facebook or through my website
Any last thoughts? Shout outs? Words of wisdom?
