Considering this isn’t your first release, what led to the decision to go with a self-titled album?
It’s our first full length studio album. All the others were DIY EPs. And I would say this is the most cohesive album ever released by us. So it’s almost like a rebirth. We did throw out a bunch of different options as to a title, but nothing stuck. We don’t really like naming an album after a song on it as we think that just pigeonholes the album and the song for the listener. We do like taking song lyrics and making that the album title (Up and Up) or using a concept (At the 426, Late Night Companions), but again, nothing stuck. The music speaks for itself. The artwork speaks for itself. Why ruin that with a lame title? So Chaser Eight it is.
What was the last song you listened to?
“Take Me to Church” by Hozier and maybe a little Taylor Swift. I like it all! Just give me a beat and a good hook and I’m a fan!
Where can fans catch you live? Any tours in the works?
Yes, well kind of. We have so much going on in the Northeast this year. Our schedule can be found at http://chasereight.com/see-us/ and more shows will be added as we are working with our PR company to fill out the rest of 2015.
How much of an impact has the Internet/social media had on your career since 2012?
Social media is great if you know how to use it properly. We have connected with so many fans that aren’t in our area and that really love the music. It’s so much fun having conversations via Twitter or Facebook. I love to hear from all of them and answer their questions or just respond to their love. We’ve had steady growth on all our sites since 2012, so it’s been great. Although human interaction is also key. We go out a lot and mingle with other bands and fans and just get out in the crowd to make real connections.
Where is the best place to grab your new album on February 17th?
We will have physical copies available through our website and for sale when you see us live. And of course all the major online retailers with iTunes being the main one.
Any last thoughts? Shout outs?
Shout out to Phil Mann from Silk City Music Factory in Manchester, Connecticut. He was our producer and engineer on this album and he helped to make it what it became and helped us to grow as musicians and songwriters. He’s the man. We’ve been through a lot recently and we have to thank all the people that have stuck by us and helped us to get here and continue to push us, especially our Consigliere. And of course to our Crazy 8s that we love so much. Without you guys we have nothing. Thanks for following this journey!
