Tito Montana is an artist, entrepreneur, Final Score Ent. music label owner/executive, and Hip Hop music advocate born and raised in New York. Although born in Brooklyn, he moved upstate to Poughkeepsie and has been a major champion of putting artists on greater platforms, and contributing to the rising Hip Hop scene in the area. He mostly wears the hats of A&R and artist relations manager while building his brand and lifting up others.
In this interview spotlight, I chat with Tito Montana about the latest music, technology, adapting during the pandemic and more.
Full Q&A along with links and music below.
Where are you from and how do You describe your style of music?
I’m from Poughkeepsie NY. My style is what the essence of Hip Hop sounds like. To better describe it, I consider it LYRICAL ART.
How did you get here? As in, what inspired or motivated you to take on this journey through music and the music biz?
Hard work and a desire to create something better for my family. Aside from my ability to paint pictures with words, I see my journey in the music biz as one of perseverance, drive, ambition, and the inability to give up.
How does your latest project compare/contrast with your previous release(s)?
My last project which was “Why Not Me?” was me showing my ability to experiment with different flows over tracks that I wouldn’t normally rap over.
My next project “Two Faces One Tear” is a look into my personal life. I’m speaking on abandonment; survival and my perspective of what family is, from my personal experiences.
Were you setting out to accomplish anything specific, follow a specific theme, or explore different styles of creation?
Actually, my new project is pretty much a therapy session with my fans and anyone who may be interested in what makes me, me. I like to think that my mystique is what makes me most intriguing, that is, if you’re actually paying attention to my journey.
Simply put, you just never know with me 🤷🏾♂️
Name the biggest challenge you faced as a creative during these unprecedented times? How did you adapt? How have you kept the creative fires burning during all this?
Honestly, I’m usually my best during “uncertain times”. It’s my ability to adapt that has been my secret weapon since I was a child. A little pressure typically motivates me to perform at a God level.
What was the last song you listened to?
Sadly, I don’t remember, but if I had to guess, it was the compilation I’m about to release off my Indie Label “Final Score Ent” featuring myself, Tito Montana, and all of the artists; D. Weathers, Jefe Wit The Shot, Tee Kay V, Frank Benz, & the newest member of the team Bae B, that is dropping this spring.
This body of work is motivating me to really step my game up as a music mogul and the CEO of the #1 Indie Label out of the Hudson Valley region of New York State.
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? 8-tracks? Cassettes? CDs? MP3s? Streaming platforms? WHY?
Definitely all the above, except 8-Tracks. My reason why is because that’s more ways for the fans to get the music. And as long as it’s getting heard and supported it shouldn’t matter how they get it.
Where is the best place to connect with you and follow your journey?
I’m on IG and Twitter under @Iam_TitoMontana, YouTube is Tito Montana, and my artist page on FB is The Real Tito Montana and that’s pretty much it for now.
