Who Is The Whythouse?
The Whythouse is an iconic Canadian Multi-Genre Urban group that keep bringing new and exciting music for all to enjoy. The Band formed in the early 2000’s are known for their innovative cross over tracks mixing Rap, Pop, RnB and Reggae. Now fast forward to December 2021.
The Whythouse after a long hiatus has come back swinging with multiple releases over the last few months. Most notable is the release of She Said Hi . This country pop track is the first release off The Country Files. She Said Hi has captured a whopping 300,000 streams just on Spotify in it’s first three months and continues to climb. The Country Files was created to bring people together, to bring feel good music back to a world that has been struggling to find Happiness, Peace, Love and most of all Originality. This Northern Rebel Vibe is our own version of what country music should sound like. The Country Files has something for everyone, even if you’re not a country fan, from our hip hop beats and basslines, The catchy hooks and that southern swag, all walks of life can get down with this universal music. Check out every song as we guarantee you will find something here you will absolutely love.
Where are you from and how do You describe your style of music?
I’m from Toronto, Canada. We are a multi-genre group that smashes pop, rap, reggae, country pop and urban all together.
How did you get here? As in, what inspired or motivated you to take on this journey through music and the music biz?
It started for me at a very young age, listening to multiple genres of music influenced by my parents. My inspirations came from artists like The Commodores , Sam Cook, James Brown, Micheal Jackson and so many more. Growing up in a big city like Toronto and being raised in a multicultural atmosphere I gravitated towards Hip Hop and R&b and found myself developing musically when I hit High school and college.
How does your latest project compare/contrast with your previous release(s)? Were you setting out to accomplish anything specific, follow a specific theme, or explore different styles of creation?
The Country Files was a completely new experience for me and I wanted to explore how I could incorporate the vibe Whythouse had in the past by smashing multiple genres together to create our own version of Country Pop. We mixed hiphop beats and basslines with a bit of country swag and added Rap, Reggae and a dash of urban and now here we are with something fresh for the audience to rock with.
Name the biggest challenge you faced as a creative during these unprecedented? How did you adapt? How have you kept the creative fires burning during all this?
My biggest challenge was time. As a mature adult with a 9 to 5 , a family and social life, committing to the project with any spare time I had was hard but well worth it.
What was the last song you listened to?
Break Yo Neck by Busta Rhymes
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? 8-tracks? Cassettes? CDs? MP3s? Streaming platforms?
lol 8 tracks, it’s pretty bad I know what those are but I would say MP3 and Streaming Platforms for today’s market.
