Full Q&A along with links and music below.
Where are you from and how do You describe your style of music?
We’re The Fiasco – a Pop/Alt/Rock band from the UK. We’re based around the Leeds/Wakefield area in West Yorkshire. Our style is very much influenced by Pop/Punk bands of the 00s, but with a modern edge. We’re also big fans of modern Country music too, so there’s some of that influence in there as well.
How did you get here? As in, what inspired or motivated you to take on this journey through music and the music biz?
All of us have always been passionate about music from an early age. Myself [Adam] and Tim met in school and had similar tastes in music, so decided to get together for a jam session. It grew from there really. We became best mates, started a band and then recruited Matt and Jack who fitted in perfectly. Writing, recording and performing our music is just a buzz, and we want it to connect with people – whether that’s through emotions or shared experiences that people can relate to!
How does your latest project compare/contrast with your previous release(s)? Were you setting out to accomplish anything specific, follow a specific theme, or explore different styles of creation?
Our aim with our last 4 releases was to build our presence… online mainly! We wanted to release the best music we could possible put out, but also get it in front of as many people as possible, through Radio, Press, Spotify and social media. The styles of our releases are similar in that they certainly fall into the Pop/Rock genre, but some of them are upbeat, some are energetic, some are ballads. I think our latest single Fairytale is a great mix of modern vs traditional Pop/Rock.
Name the biggest challenge you faced as a creative during these unprecedented times? How did you adapt? How have you kept the creative fires burning during all this?
The biggest challenge really was not being able to meet up! That’s not too bad in terms of recording music – it’s entirely possible to create a song remotely, but it was really difficult in terms of release and promotion. We couldn’t get together to create music videos or do any photo shoots. Luckily, that’s over now and fingers crossed it stays like that!
What was the last song you listened to?
Luke Combs – Forever After All. I can’t stop listening to his latest album… it’s on repeat in my car!
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? 8-tracks? Cassettes? CDs? MP3s? Streaming platforms?
Streaming!! I know that’s probably not a popular answer but the convenience and ease that people can consume music today is incredible, and that can only be a good thing both for consumers and artists! Yes it really does suck that artists don’t get paid more from streaming platforms, and honestly I don’t know what the solution to that is! If they could get a fair payout I think streaming would be unbeatable! I do have a lot of friends that are mega into vinyl though and it’s great to see that format coming back. For me though, it’s not really my thing!
