In this interview spotlight, I chat with Social Lubricant about their single Look What I Can Do, challenges, technology and more.
Full Q&A along with links and music below.
Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
Kalamazoo, we make pop rap
How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?
we were just trying to get people to look what we can do, this is our first song
Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?
getting off of netflix long enough to write or record a song, and file management are the two biggest pitfalls of the digital age. Technology has helped in that without it our broke asses would not be able to record anything ever and would die musicless in the coal mine.
What was the last song you listened to?
Safety dance, it was on the radio, How the hell did that become a timeless classic, do you think they knew when they made it?
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
mp3s I’m a basic bitch I know
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
bandcamp FTW they have introduced me to some of my favorite musicians
