In this interview spotlight, I chat with singer/songwriter Rishbh Tiwari about his latest music, AI in music, dream collabs, and more.
Full Q&A along with links and music below.
This AI thing is getting way out of control. I have students using ChatGPT to write death metal songs about country music…and country songs about being sad. You can feed some Ais a text prompt and create a Hollywood-quality short film. How do you feel about this new wave of technological innovation?
“I think AI is making it easy to come up with new ideas and explore creativity quickly. Having said that, I haven’t yet used it in any manner in my music. I also believe as humans we love ‘humanness’. We love being wrong at times and not being perfect most of the time.
I think this will also increase appreciation for actual instruments and sounds and live bands.”
I know it’s hard…but what’s your favorite song and/or favorite artist of all time? If not favorite, in your top 3?
“Yes, certainly it’s very hard to narrow it down to one song, but I love ‘Creep’ by Radiohead a lot, and they are my favorite band. And artist-wise, I would say Atif Aslam has inspired me a lot since the beginning of my career.”
Were you trying to accomplish anything specific or different with this project? What’s the back story?
“Yeah, so ‘Aankhon Ke Darmiyan’ was my debut track and it was very well received by the audience, and it gained 6 million views and became ‘Our Song’ for a lot of couples, as I get tagged in their reels… haha. So, I came up with the second part of the track where the girl has left the guy and he is singing for her to come back. Coincidentally, I was in love when I wrote the first part, which is about falling in love mostly, and I had a breakup when I wrote the second part, so yeah, in both of the songs, you can feel genuine emotions and feelings.”
What drives you to create? What keeps you going, especially on the bad days?
“I think it’s love. Love for people, places, and of course, love for music.” If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why? Please plug them with a link so readers can check them out.
“Yes, a lot, but to name one, it would be Atif Aslam (@atifaslam). I started listening to his music in school, began playing gigs with his songs, and still turn to his music when I feel blue. So, I hope that one day we can record something together.”
Where is the best place to stay connected with You?
“I believe Instagram would be the best place to connect with me. My Insta handle is @rishbhtiwariofficial. You can also email me at rishabhtiwariofficial@gmail.com.”
I appreciate Your time. Want to say anything else before we sign off?
“Yes, thank you so much for having me, and a huge thank you to everyone who has been listening to my music. An artist lives to express what’s inside, and there is no greater gift than having an audience to share your heart with through your music.”
