In this interview spotlight, I chat with Ripio about the music, the technology, the challenges and more.
Full Q&A along with links and music below.
Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
I am Argentinian. I play hard rock and heavy metal music, but my music is a mix. I like all kinds of music.
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?
I really don’t know, but music is my way expressing myself.
How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?
Yes of course, I always try to create different melodies and new sounds. I don’t like to always do the same, but always is hard music.
Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?
I always go forward despite everything, that is my challenge, I am alone in Ripio, it is a solo project. I record all the instruments in the studio, no concerts .It is difficult. It costs a lot to show my material.
The technology is great, my music has reached many places, some of those places would be impossible to reach without social media
I have sold records abroad thanks to social networks
What was the last song you listened to?
lately I keep hearing everything the same as when I was a kid, 80s hard rock and heavy metal
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
I like old formats, in fact I always edit my discs on CD, but I also handle a lot with mp3s for diffusion
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
All social networks are good for the dissemination of a musical project, I already use them all without exception, I like the networks in which not only can you upload songs but photos, videos, etc.
Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?
Anything else before we sign off?
Thank you and your audience
