Quill, blending the haunting intensity of Evanescence with the raw edge of Billie Eilish, crafts symphonic alternative music that dives deep into themes of loneliness, vulnerability, and self-discovery. Her latest single, “Ghosts,” is a powerful reflection on identity and emotional struggle within a disconnected world.

How do you feel about this new wave of technological innovation?
You know, it’s wild. We’re living in a time where you can literally conjure up art with a few keystrokes. On one hand, it’s exhilarating – the accessibility, the creativity it unleashes, the possibilities are endless. But there’s a part of me that’s deeply rooted in the raw, human experience of creating art. I spent years in theatre, and now, in music, every note I play, every lyric I write, it’s a piece of my soul. AI can mimic, it can even innovate, but can it feel? That’s where the line blurs for me. I want my music to resonate on a human level, to connect with people through shared experiences and emotions that I’ve lived and breathed. So, while I appreciate it, I’m cautious about losing the raw authenticity that makes art so powerful.
What’s your favorite song and/or favorite artist of all time?
My favorite artist of all time has to be Taylor Swift. Her ability to tell stories through her music is unparalleled. She has this incredible knack for capturing emotions and experiences in a way that feels so personal and universal at the same time. Songs like “All Too Well” and “Lover” show her range and depth as a songwriter. Taylor’s music has been a constant companion through different phases of my life, and her journey as an artist is incredibly inspiring to me.
Congratulations on the release of “Ghosts.” What are you hoping to accomplish with this release?
Thank you! “Ghosts” is such a personal track for me. It’s about the struggle of losing yourself while chasing love and validation, ending up alone with nothing but echoes of what once was. I hope this song connects with people who have felt that emptiness, who have chased after something or someone only to realize they’ve lost parts of themselves along the way. I want listeners to find solace in the song, to know they’re not alone in their feelings. More than anything, I want “Ghosts” to be the beginning of a larger conversation about self-worth and rediscovery.
What drives you to create? What keeps you going, especially on the bad days?
Creating is my way of processing the world around me. It’s my therapy, my release. On the bad days, when everything feels heavy and insurmountable, music is my escape. I think back to my pre-teen years, dealing with identity crises, depression, anxiety, and undiagnosed eating disorders. Writing saved my mental health back then, and it continues to be my lifeline. The idea that my music can be a lifeline for someone else keeps me going. Knowing that I can turn my pain into something beautiful and meaningful is what drives me to keep creating, even on the darkest days.
If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why?
I’d love to collaborate with Amy Lee. Her voice, her style, her raw, emotional turmoil – she is a force of nature. I feel like we could create something hauntingly beautiful together. She has a way of turning her pain into art that resonates deeply with people, and I think our styles would result in something truly unique and powerful.
Where is the best place to stay connected with you?
I’m pretty active on Instagram – it’s where I share a lot of my day-to-day life, updates, and behind-the-scenes looks at my music. You can find me there at @musicbyquill. I also love connecting with fans through my email newsletter. It’s a bit more personal, and I get to share stories and insights that don’t always make it to social media. You can sign up for that through the link in my Instagram bio, or head to www.quillsmusic.org.
I appreciate your time. Want to say anything else before we sign off?
Just a huge thank you to everyone who’s been supporting my journey. Your love and support mean the world to me. And to anyone out there struggling, whether it’s with mental health, identity, or just life in general – keep fighting. You’re not alone, and your story matters. Keep creating, keep dreaming, and never lose sight of who you are. Stay tuned for more music, and let’s continue to build this community together.
