Young, fresh and talented British singer-songwriter London King took over the stage at a very young age. Her first live performance happened when she was only four, in front of a crowd of 500 people. Her passion for songwriting started at age 11, when she wrote her very first song ‘Sinking in the Darkness’, featured also on her first EP. She has been performing live across LA and UK since she was only fourteen years old. Initially started out as the frontwoman of a rock band called Rancid, London became a solo artist at age 18. Her first EP as a solo act came out soon after in 2014 , called ‘Golden Edition’, which has been produced by award winning musician and producer James Colah, and Cornell Sorian. In early 2017 she began producing her second EP, with ‘Producer of the Year’ Aubrey Whitfield, called Antichrist Child, released in December 2017.
In this interview spotlight, I chat with London King about the latest project, motivations, challenges and more.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
LK :I am from London. I create electronic pop for the most, yet i am very versatile, and i always try to put a little flavour of something in my singles.
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?
LK :I remember watching Madonna’s ‘Hung up’ video when i was a kid, in 2006 and that’s when i told myself ‘yes, this is what i want to be: an artist, a poster.’ I believe is my never ending passion for music, which is true and real. I don’t do music because i believe it’s glamorous, i do it because i was born an artist. I do it because it’s what i am.
How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?
LK :Well, first off, i drifted towards a more electronic sound. Second, i believe it’s more mature than the previous EP, which i wrote when i was a teenager. I was trying to get out there as many emotions i have felt and experiences i made. I believe i accomplished my mission.
Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?
LK :Make people believe i am a serious musician, and not a bimbo obsessed with fame. This has become my number one challenges, since there’s a lot of clowns in this business. Even when i go on Instagram, i see a lot of beautiful, cool people that call themselves singers and they are far from being one. It’s not oversaturated, it’s just full of fools and egos. It’s not hard to see who are the serious musicians and who are the fools, and i believe people are starting to realise more. Technology has helped me spreading the word and reach more people outside of England, USA for example, Brasil and even Philippines! It’s all very overwhelming.
