Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
I am from the Netherlands. I make pop music with a hint of country. I love to write songs about society and what I see happening; funny things but disturbing things too. I spread the message with a positive vibe and hope to lighten up people’s days.
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?
When I was just a kid I already really loved singing and I used to do some musicals. I had to sing for audiences and that made me realize I really felt at home on stage. So when I was about 13 I wrote my first song and competed in the pre-Junior Song Contest where I got to the top 80. And this is what motivated me in the first place, knowing I found something I loved doing and being good at. As the years went by I wrote more songs and steadily grew the number of performances, my fanbase and now travel international and intercontinental. What keeps me going nowadays is seeing people getting touched by my music and bringing a smile on their faces. There is really nothing better than that. Besides that I now have an amazing team to help me do my thing and I am very gratefull for that.
How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?
To start, the single Faces, is my first official released song, meaning studio recorded and mixed and mastered by the Amercian Henry Sarmiento, owner of www.sonicvistastudios.com with an amazing client list, artist we all know. All songs that will be released will getting better and better and done this way. And the story behind the song of course is very different. Where “Faces” was about everybody getting more and more focused on themselves instead of each other, “Out of Time” is about getting older and the stages you go through in your life. I want to show people that getting older is not a bad thing and every part of life has its good and bad sides. Don’t look back but live today and enjoy the ride.
Do you face challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? How has technology helped you (assuming it helps)?
I think every indie musician faces some challenges. To me it is growing an international fanbase. But really I shouldn’t even complain about that because everything is picking up massively! Things such as social media really helps out a lot. It has become easier to reach out to everybody and I just love it!
