Emerging indie-rock quartet Little Suspicions prepare to release their symphonic debut, Wasting All My Time, out now.
Reminiscent of the likes of The Last Shadow Puppets, Little Suspicions combine sweeping guitars with euphoric melodies and tranquil harmonies in order to create a sound that is undeniably charming. Lead singer Moritz Meyes’ distinctively colloquial vocal style compliments the poignant lyricism effortlessly, channeling the likes of Alex Turner and Scott Walker as a result. Talking about the single, the band elaborate, “it’s about trying to pursue people who lead you on, so you hang onto their every word and wait around for them. All the time you think it’s a goer but they just parr you off and you’re basically just an ego boost.”
In this interview spotlight, I chat with Little Suspicions about the latest release, challenges, technology and more.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?
The good, the bad and the ugly, that was a good starting point for some of the band. That soundtrack has everything, great musicianship, great sounds and beautiful guitar lines topped with reverb. With that embedded into the bands brain and a mix of listening to pure pop Beatle tracks, we hoped to mix them together and give it a go ourselves. It’s not a unique sound , Scott Walker, Alexandra saviour and the last shadow puppets have headed down this route before, but we thought we’d join the journey and see if we could discover something different along the way
What led you into this journey with music? And further, what drives you to push it out to the public?
Well firstly as individuals we love music, some of us have studied music, some of us have had different jobs within the industry, but being in a band with your best mates is exhilarating and let’s you be part of the artistic process of music. We wanted to create music for ourselves at first, just to create small demos and have fun together. But as the songs got stronger and our ideas became more potent we wanted other people to hear, enjoy and critique them, it would have been a shame for the demos to have never seen the light of day .
Who or what influences your creativity? Have your tastes in music changed over time?
We all have a varied taste in music, I wanna say our tastes have change but they have definitely expanded, it’s great to have an open mind and be willing to listen to other forms of music. We get inspired by all sorts, events that happen to us, books, movies and recently song exploder. It’s a great podcast where musicians discuss their writing process, that’s helped us a lot and has also widened our music taste.
Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?
Just to create music that we enjoy and are proud of. We wanted to do it all by ourselves too, which was challenging but very fun. Also to hit over 1k streams on spotify (which we did within 24 hours) we were over the moon!
What was the last song you listened to?
Children Of The State – Hot Money
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
I mean.. I wouldn’t say wouldn’t really a preference, we all collect vinyl as it’s nice to be able to hold something in your hands. Also you feel like you’re supporting the artist more. So I guess we’ll go with that!
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
Spotify, although I wish they paid artist more fairly, that would make them the best in the industry! think a lot of industry people judge you by your Spotify page. I’ve also had some great recommendations in their suggestions.. glad to see they’re using out data wisely.
Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what is the biggest challenge you face when trying to connect with or find new fans?
At the moment, definitely Covid. We arent gong to see the live music industry come back for a long time, and a I think gigs are where you really connect with an audience. It’s allright doing it over the net, but being face to face is where it needs to be.
Where is the best place to connect with you online? Discover more music?
Spotify and Instagram. @littlesuspicions
Anything else you’d like to add before signing off?
Thanks so much for the opportunity, its really difficult for small bands to get a foothold and you’re really helping the scene with everything you do.
