Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?
My new single “Bye Bye Baby” is an infusion of pop and reggae. I’ve always been a lover of pop and all genres of music. I like to mix different styles together. With “Bye Bye Baby” the music is reggae and the melodies are pop. I like the combination of the two.
What led you into this journey with music? And further, what drives you to push it out to the public?
I’ve always been immersed in music. I studied music at a conservatory in France and it’s always been a passion of mine. I’ve been acting and I felt it was time to get back into my first love because I didn’t want to have any regrets later on.
Who or what influences your creativity? Have your tastes in music changed over time?
Lyrics and song ideas always seem to fly into my mind. I then go into the studio and we create music based on the vibes or my current mood. My musical taste has always been centered around pop – that hasn’t changed. Now living in the US, I find that I’m more into hip-hop and I discovered and absolutely love country music.
Were you trying to accomplish anything specific with this new single “Bye Bye, Baby”? Creatively or otherwise?
I had just worked on another reggae song – one with pure roots reggae – and I was inspired to continue with the genre and “Bye Bye Baby” was born.
What was the last song you listened to?
I was listening to one of the final mixes of my next single.
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
I like MP3s because they can go with me everywhere on my phone and iPod.
How about this one… Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
I love Spotify. I can usually find pretty much everything I need.
Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what is the biggest challenge you face when trying to connect with or find new fans?
Since I’m a new artist I’m still discovering what the challenges are.
