In this interview spotlight, I chat with Layo about the latest music, technology, challenges and more.
Full Q&A along with links and music below.
Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
I’m currently from North Manchester but I grew in Scotland and Hertfordshire. Been about.
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?
Always loved it, since day. I think just the fact I think I’m sick and I hope other people will eventually to.
How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?
Well I haven’t really had any thing else out, but nah just trying to put banging tunes out.
Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?
I mean I’m also in the pop genre so it’s hard getting people say “you’re not over indie” like ok go cut your bangs and smoke a fag elsewhere. I dunno, I don’t think it massively has as I haven’t really done anything substantial..
What was the last song you listened to?
Lemme check one sec.
Two People – Sam Fender. Tune, that.
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
Won’t lie mp3s.
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
Spotify is the daddy cmon.
Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?
Probs insta, post most my stuff on there. Mostly just RT nonsense on Twitter. @LayoSucks if you wanna have a stalk.
