Full Q&A along with links and music below.
Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
I’m from Trinity, North Carolina. A small town near the middle of the state.
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?
A. When I was young, I started off in musical theatre and what I realized that I really liked about it was the music part. Then I was involved in a TV show based in Nashville and was introduced to Country Music. Around that time I had also gotten involved with a group called the Mini Stars, in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where I became a Hunter Hayes tribute artist. I’ve been performing ever since.
B. My motivation to go on is… My fans… people that I’m able to touch with my music. The looks on their faces…the messages they send telling me how one of my songs made them feel or how it helped them get through a tough situation. Today I got a message asking if I would do a lyric video for one of my latest songs… the person who sent the message explained that she was a caregiver for someone who is deaf… she went on to explain that although he is deaf… he holds a blue tooth speaker and feels the vibrations of the music as he reads the words to my songs. Now that’s motivation!!
How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?
Well… My latest song “Birth Of A Song” is a tribute to all of the mentors who have helped me in my musical journey. I hope they all realize how important they’ve been.. and continue to be in my life.
Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?
I would say the biggest challenge that I have faced has been my age. I started very young and found out quickly that quite often people want to judge you before they have a chance to hear you …but I’ve found that challenges will either destroy you or make you stronger… in my case it made me only want to work harder to earn their respect.
Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?
