In this interview spotlight, I chat with Karma Fire about their latest project, challenges, motivations and more.
Full Q&A along with links and music below.
Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
Karma Fire are a band From Norway and mostly we create in the Hard Rock genre and with some progressive parts now and then 😊
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?
As the main songwriter, my upbringing was of great importance.
My older brother was playing Kiss, Saga, Motorhead and that style of music, and I was immediately fascinated buy the power and energy this music gave me.
And I started asking my mother for a guitar for Christmas that year, and got my first guitar when I was 11 years old.
After that I was sold to music, the guitar, the art of improvising solos and writing music/songs.
How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?
We constantly strive to improve the song writing but without changing the Karma Fire signature sound.
All in all we are very satisfied with the natural progression we’ve made from the last album, Improving but not alienating ourselves.
Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this oversaturated, digital music age? How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?
The sheer volume of music released every day is sometimes a little overwhelming for an indie artist.
And the styles the big labels push on radio in many countries are not boosting the popularity of Hard Rock unfortunately since the music listeners today often don’t get to hear a lot of different styles of music on the radio.
What was the last song you listened to?
One More Light by Linkin Park
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
I have gone completely digital this days since its very convenient for music fans.
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
Spotify for listening on the everyday basis and Youtube for new releases on social media and the online magazines like blabbermouth etc.
Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?
Anything else before we sign off?
We have a new album coming out in 2019 and touring so stay tuned!
