Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
I’m from Jacksonville, Florida and currently based in Nashville, TN. I create music that makes people feel things to the core, using my voice as the driving force to tell imagery based stories. My music is a blend of genres including blues, rock and soul and I’m strongly influenced by jazz vocally.
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to keep going?
I’ve been performing professionally since fourteen years old, so getting to use my gift to make a living from a young age and connect with people using music has encouraged me to keep going.
How is this new release different than previous ones? Were you trying to accomplish anything specific?
This release is the most authentic that I’ve felt to who I am and want to be musically since I’ve been releasing original music. It means a lot to me, because I was able to take my first loves in music like Etta James and Adele and channel that feel-based singing and story-telling into a song.
Name one or two challenges you face as an indie musician in this over saturated, digital music age?
A challenge I face as an indie artist is pouring time, money and energy into a project and being very confident that people will connect with it, but not always having the opportunity to share it with the masses because of over-saturation on social media and online platforms, while also working on an independent budget.
How has technology helped you (since we know it does help)?
Technology has made is possible for indie artists to have successful careers by offering a way to build a fanbase no matter their budget or status.
What was the last song you listened to?
“Bad News” by Melody Gardot
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
Vinyl is obviously sweet, because of the history behind it and the experience is provides for the listener. It can set the tone for an entire evening or add to the atmosphere by giving a sense of nostalgia.
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
I prefer Spotify because I can connect with fans on one simple platform and track my monthly listeners by area and demographic, as well as share my live show schedule.
Where is the best place to connect with you online and discover more music?
Anything else before we sign off?
Thank you for having me! I have 3 EP’s worth of music plus multiple singles for listeners to check out and would appreciate a follow on Spotify, plus would love to connect on Instagram! I always follow back fans, because I think that’s an important part of being an independent artist and genuinely connecting with people on a deeper level.
