Full Q&A along with links and streams below.
Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
I was born and raised in Austin, TX. I would call my music a crazy hybrid of rock, blues, r&b, reggae and soul.
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?
My father was a professional musician since before I was born. Watching him and going to gigs with him always seemed so cool and like such a right fit for me. What keeps me going is that I really love doing this, it brings me a lot of joy.
How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?
All of my other releases are studio albums where as my latest release, Live at Strange Brew, is a live album. I set out to capture the magic of a live show and I believe I did. I am so blessed to play with the guys I play with and we all love playing together, I think that translates to record on this latest project.
Do you face any challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? On the flip side, how has technology helped you (if it has)?
It’s no more challenging than it always has been. Being a musician for a living is a tough path, no doubt about it. Digital technology has definitely made the whole thing more DIY so I have more work but I also have more freedom. Just like anything in life there are pros and cons.
