In this interview spotlight, I chat with Adrian from Destroy//Create about the latest music, challenges, technology and more.
Full Q&A along with links and music below.
Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
We’re from Rochester, NY and we consider ourselves a metalcore band. We like to try our best to deliver a positive message with our lyrics and add melody to our music.
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?
There’s just about being able to create music and being able to tap into certain emotions and then being able to take what you created and perform it live, that’s what draws us to walking down the path of music. The connection that you get with your bandmates and to anyone who listens to your music, thats what motivates us to stay the course.
How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?
The release for these videos is different from our EP because it’s the first time we’ve tackled writing for a concept. What we wanted to accomplish with this two part story is bringing awareness to mental health and addiction. I think that we’re doing a pretty good job of accompolishing that.
Do you face any challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? On the flip side, how has technology helped you (if it has)?
Definitely, it’s world where you have to continue to produce content. That isn’t necessarily a bad thing but you definitely have to be focused, motivated and vigilant in doing so. On the flip side, it has helped reach new people in areas that we aren’t able to get to by touring at this time.
