Where are you from and how do You describe your style of music?
I am from Tirol, Austria, and now living in Vienna and Innbruck. I would describe my music as a personal experiment – means I really don’t find my genre. I studied classical music and plaid afterwards only Jazz. Now I am writing and producing smooth jazz, swing and pop music.
How did you get here? As in, what inspired or motivated you to take on this journey through music and the music biz?
I began to play music with 10 years. After my studies I played in many Jazz and Pop bands. My wife inspired me to begin to write my own music in 2016, when I lost my job as a Marketing guy. I started at that time to write the music I felt in my heart. Smooth Jazz songs with Clarinet as the main solo instrument and soft Pop songs with lyrics full of love to my wife. After the 5 years journey through many different albums of my music I am currently working on a new swing album. This was important for me, because in 2020 and 2021 I released a lot of Pop songs – including a Christmas/Holiday album. The song “A Little Something Different” was originally released in 2020 and now you got the remix with a more modern and up-to-date arrangement.
How does your latest project compare/contrast with your previous release(s)? Were you setting out to accomplish anything specific, follow a specific theme, or explore different styles of creation?
I worked hard on my professionalism to produce the songs as perfect as possible. And what is also important to mention, I cooperated with pros on mixing and mastering. Currently I work with a guy from USA. In my songs I try to include always a little bit of a swing feeling and touch.
Name the biggest challenge you faced as a creative during these unprecedented? How did you adapt? How have you kept the creative fires burning during all this?
You should know that I go day by day to my work to earn my living. So it is really not easy after 8-10 hours office job to be creative. But I love music and this helps me to come down playing my clarinet or sax. I am listening a lot of different music and there I can learn most and it motivates me to hear good music – e.g. Amy Winehouse….
What was the last song you listened to?
Amy Winehouse “Back to Black”
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? 8-tracks? Cassettes? CDs? MP3s? Streaming platforms?
