Scottish rock band, Bloodlines, have had an eventful past twelve months. Winner of the Best/Rock Alternative category at the Scottish Alternative Music Awards last year has allowed the band to cement their status as ‘one’s to watch’ north of the border. Now, the band are excited to bring their high energy, yet intricate, brand of rock music to a wider UK audience with the release of single All Your Love, out now via Bangover Records.
In this interview feature, we chat with Bloodlines about influences, motivations, the newest project, navigating the digital music era and more.

Let’s dive a little deeper into You, the artist and your music. What attracted you to this genre(s) or style(s)?
I’m not too sure to be quite honest! I guess its always been energetic rock shows/riffs that have really blown us away, so I think whenever we pick up our instrument we just want to beat the shit out of our instruments, shout, create an energy and enjoy ourselves!
What led you into this journey with music? And further, what drives you to push it out to the public?
We have all played music from very young ages, I think we have just had the buzz of playing shows and making music so long that we are addicted! Its really the only thing that we love doing and have a passion for! I think its all about the live shows for us. We want as much people to get into our music as possible so when they come to our shows everyone has a great time!
Who or what influences your creativity? Have your tastes in music changed over time?
Live shows and big riffs. Its always been about a bands energy or atmosphere they bring. Although our influence and taste has always been the same at the core we are constantly being introduced to something new and we love it, every band we see or hear who influences just drives us to be better!
Were you trying to accomplish anything specific on this new project? Creatively or otherwise?
Not really, we didn’t have a goal in mind or anything we just play and put out what we like playing and what comes naturally to us!
Which do you prefer? Vinyl? CDs? MP3s?
They all have their own pros and cons, as much as I love something physical that you play front to back and really cherish (and I always want to release in physical format), I have to say MP3s are just getting easier and easier to access. So I’m going to have to go with MP3’s I guess! Its 95% of the way I listen to and discover music!
How about this one…. Do you prefer Spotify? Apple Music? Bandcamp? Or something else? Why?
Spotify for me. Mostly just because its what I use! It’s really easy, I’m always finding something new on it.
Other than the digital era overwhelming us with access to an abundance of music, what is the biggest challenge you face when trying to connect with or find new fans?
I think just trying to connect with and find new fans in general is the hardest part, its hard knowing how to reach out and find people who are in to what you do! I would say as a band we work our social networks well and are easy to access and listen to… But its still extremely difficult understanding how to get that to a someone who isn’t an existing fan!
