Apryll Aileen is a classically trained pianist turned dynamic pop artist, captivating global audiences for over a decade. She was a finalist in the JUNO Wavemakers Tour and recently showcased her talent at the VIVA Sounds Music Festival in Sweden, representing Women in Music Canada.
Get ready to dance with “Take Me,” a high-energy pop disco anthem that fuses the introspective essence of Madonna’s Ray of Light era with Dua Lipa’s modern flair and features powerful vocals, profound lyrics, and innovative production. Pulsing with electrifying beats, the brand new single delivers a message of playful confidence with lyrics like “gonna make you love me in the dark.” It describes finding passion in the shadows of the dance floor and was written between Apryll, Lazermortis (Monika Ouellet) and Assteroidz (Philip Clark). Feel the rhythm and let the night embrace you.
What can you share with readers about your new project?
Listeners have told that my new single sounds like Dua Lipa and Madonna collaborated on a song together. Pretty exciting since I really enjoy both their styles of music!
How does this release compare with your other projects you had in the
past?
It is similar to some of the synthpop songs I’ve released, but what was really cool about this song, is that it originated as a co-write between 3 people that had never written together before. We had two hours in the studio and we created this. I could hear the melody for the chorus in my head so I sat down at the piano and found the chords. Phil and Monika co-produced it. They sat down and started producing a drum beat and synth lines and the rest is history.
What about this single makes you most proud?
I love hearing how it makes people feel. They love it and message me all the time with how much they enjoy dancing and working out to it. The coolest part was having the dancers involved to create the music video and actually having a full choreographed dance come out of it at House of Eights.
Was there a specific goal you were trying to accomplish with this release?
Really I just wanted to try something new and have fun and write something upbeat and funky.
What inspires you to create music? What motivates you to keep going?
Experiences, travel and relationships inspire me to write music. It’s really all about storytelling for me. Sometimes it’s also a bit of therapy. Making music is a really hard career – hearing from others about the impact my live show or music has on them, motivates me to keep pushing along this path.
If you could collaborate with anyone – dead or alive, famous or unknown – who would it be and why? If it’s an indie/DIY artist, please include a link so readers can check them out
This is tough and would be a toss up between Freddie Mercury or Stevie Nicks. Stevie is alive so I’ll pick her. I would love to write with her and sing a duet both in the studio and on stage.
What was the last song you listened to? Favorite all-time bands/artists?
I’ve been listening to a lot of Prince, Bob Marley and Lana del Rey these days

I really appreciate your time. Is there anything you’d like to share before we sign off?
Music is a way of connecting people no matter the barrier, be it geographical, language, societal, political – I want us to remember its true value. Music is community. Singing used to be my biggest fear in life but I felt this need to overcome it. I wasn’t sure why but now here I am. I have learned so much through the journey of finding my voice and I love to inspire others to do the same. If my music resonates with you, please reach out. Thank you for your time and continuing to support independent artists!
