19th Moon is an Electronic, Pop /Alternative, otherworldly Goddess currently residing in Los Angeles, CA.
She emerged in 2011, when she decided that enough was enough. She would stop auditioning and performing in other projects and focus on her own writing. 19th Moon (Moon for short) was born in the United States but raised in Nigeria, in a city by the coast, Lagos. She has worked on various projects, bands and done studio work as a vocalist, demoing other writer’s works. She was cast as the Siren for the Los Angeles based Circus “Cirque Berzerk”, which she did for the 2008 and 2009 run.
What started out as an acoustic first EP has evolved into 4 self produced and released EP’s since then, with a colorful electronic signature. She says she finally has arrived at her sound but as an artist, there is no limit.
Her music is an extension of her spirit, it is how she expresses her innermost thoughts, her connection to the Universe. She feels strongly, the Goddess inside of her and she allows her to step forth into the light.
She has performed in Los Angeles, Austin, New York, Lived and Performed in Europe for 2 years, Italy and Berlin. Relocated back to Los Angeles, October 2015. She is looking to add bigger venues and festivals to that list.
Her upcoming single is called “Don’t Wait” which will be released in early 2018. She also has some collaborations coming up in the New Year, to be announced when the time is near.
Don’t Wait is a slice of dance-inducing electro-pop with a throwback vibe, and is the first release from 19th Moon since 2016’s “Sacré”. A theme of empowerment runs throughout the track, with Moon declaring “This is not the end”, “they say life is what you make it”, “don’t wait”, “go out and fly”. This is one for those who have ever found themselves alone and needing to push on forward to keep the torch alight.
In this interview spotlight, I chat with 19th Moon about motivations, the latest project, challenges and more.

Where are you from and what style of music do you create? (In your own words, not necessarily in marketing terms or by popular genre classifications.)
I am a child of the Universe, I was born in Boston but I was raised in Lagos, Nigeria. I move about quite a bit, I guess, I haven’t found where home is. I have lived briefly in LA, New York, Austin, Italy, Berlin and I currently live in Los Angeles. My music is Electro/Pop/Alternative at least that’s what I call it.
What led you down this path of music and what motivates you to stay the course?
Well, I combined my love of songwriting and electronic music to create my own style and I stay motivated because my dream has also been my dream. There is no alternative for me, so I don’t have the luxury to deviate, at least the fire that burns within me, would not allow me to do so.
How is your new release different than previous ones? Did you set out to accomplish anything specific?
With this release, this time around, I just feel stronger as a Songwriter and Producer, although I know that, music is a forever teacher, I continue to grow, learn new things, feel new things and henceforth write and produce new things. Specifically, I set out to accomplish visibility, I want people to start knowing who I am. Even though four EP’s and two singles later, but I feel like, as an artist, people start noticing when you get juicy. You know, you start out, it’s shaky but you keep growing, at one point, people start to notice. I think that’s where I am now.
Do you face challenges as an indie musician in a digital age? How has technology helped you (assuming it helps)?
Well, I love technology, it bridges the gap between worlds, just yesterday, I worked on a track that someone sent me from New York and I laid some vocals on it and sent it back. I use Ableton software to produce my music, I really love it, it allows me, to open my mind and create whatever it is I can imagine. There are no rules. So technology has become my friend and I do her the honors of creating beautiful things.
