Role – Full of Magic
Role is an electronic band that was formed in 2014 and has recently relocated from their home city, Madrid, to London. The four members established themselves in the Spanish electronic scene with their debut album, ‘How Distant’ (2015) which included the critically acclaimed single ‘Ocean’.
Crossing over from different genres such as trip-hop, electronica and witch-house, their music has now taken on a more avant-garde electronical sound, putting a strong emphasis on matching visuals.
Now they are releasing a video for one of their most recent singles, “Full of Magic”, depicting the major change in their lives as a result of moving from Madrid to London. Recorded with a smartphone, it fits perfectly with their DIY philosophy. “When we started with the project of our next LP, we decided that, both musically and visually we wanted to stay very close to our public, and for our publications to be accessible and comprehensible within today’s social atmosphere.”
First released as a three part video, now with the three parts together, the video itself works as a conceptual trilogy, each part depicting a moment in their move to London, starring their friends, their homes, and neighbourhoods, while consisting solely of spontaneous shots, without any programming. This enforces the relatability and personal vibe of the videos. “The video reflects the changes in our lives, which seemed interesting, as Full of Magic is about this existing magic in every person we know, a magic that captures you and ends up forming a part of your life and of who you are.”
