Even though it’s been a little while since we’ve heard anything new from Finland based The Impersonators, that does not detract from their status as veterans of these pages. Not only veterans of these pages, but long time master craftsmen of alternative pop rock jams. Let me explain.
The duo received a Josie Award nomination for Cloud Nine as “Best Rock Song” in 2020. The first single off the new Life of Grant album, Rodeo, went to #1 on the international iTunes Charts in October (of 2020). The follow-up single, Scarlet Hell, reached the iTunes Top 10 when it dropped in March of this year. On top of all this, Life Of Grant has been nominated in the “Album of the Year” category and The Impersonators in the ‘Best Rock Band’ category at the International Singer-Songwriters Awards being held in August 2021.
When I first clicked play on Life of Grant, I was immediately taken aback by how impressive it sounds, how much it rocks, how upbeat it is, and how much it just grabbed me and pulled me in. From the first track (Rodeo) to the last one (Gold Fish Blues), The Impersonators take us on an uplifting, energizing sonic journey through masterfully crafted, melodically rich, easily memorable pop rock songs that keep your feet moving, your head noddin’, and your mood boostin’ for the entire duration of the record’s 11 tracks.
The Impersonators are true masters of their instruments and their song crafting.
Life of Grant is the best project I have yet to hear from this dynamic and highly talented duo.
