After a 25 year hiatus from recording, performing and touring as a group, Canadian rockers Groupoem reunited in 2014. Fast forward a little bit and this dynamic group of highly talented musicians and songwriters has unleashed a 18 song collection of music recorded during their early days as well as new music captured over the last two years.
Groupoem‘s origins date back to 1983 when it was simply a one man show featuring Mr. Science. A few years later Groupoem became an official band as Darren from Toronto band Artsect and Chris Lee from Was is Los joined forces with Mr. Science. They released their first EP (as a 12-inch) in 1987 and supported that release with a North American tour.
During the summer of 1987, the group recorded 10 songs but the songs were never released….until now!
Dirt Church, the new album, is packed full of originality, alternative rock and roll greatness, poetic lyrics and high caliber musicianship which will have you grabbing your air instrument of choice without a second thought.
Infectious melodies, rhythms that grab you, and lyrics that are packed full of poetic substance unite for a one-of-a-kind listening experience.
Keep your ears and eyes on Groupoem! They are preparing new material for their next album as well as getting ready for their next tour.
Dirt Church is available on Spotify or the band’s official website.
