Gotham Theory‘s new album “Why’d You Break Up With Me” is a blues-infused, hard-rockin’ good time packed into eleven well crafted and produced tracks.
If you missed our previous interview with the group, be sure to read that here.
Based in Baltimore, Gotham Theory includes Sam Brewer on drums and lead vox, Zack Mason on guitar, Stu DePoy on bass and Josh Sunderlin playing lead guitar as well as providing lead vocals.
After repeatedly crossing paths in the Baltimore scene Josh and Sam got together to expand their creativity and push their talents to the next level. After going through some name and member changes, they arrived at Gotham Theory and their current line-up.
Stripping music back down to the best of basics, Why’d You Break Up With Me is a journey through awesomesauce guitar riffs, soaring bluesy guitar solos, and some serious, serious groove. The rough and gruff vocal stylings of both Sam and Josh just add more potency to an already powerful mix of frequencies.
Songs like a “Angry Boy” and “Get It” grab you from the first riff while tracks like “Where Did It All Go Wrong” or “You Bring Me Down” display a more melodic side of the group’s grooves.
I have listened through the album several times at this point and I can’t choose a favorite song. Gotham Theory has a chemistry and combined talent set that puts them well above the rest of the indie music abyss.
This album just rocks!
