It’s been awful busy over on Google Plus, lately! Then, suddenly, with all the other hububb going on in the music communities, there launches a new charity project sponsored by a group calling themselves “G+ Musicians for Autism Awareness.”
Only active for a couple of days, the group’s ideas are becoming reality. Songs are being uploaded, and downloaded, and donations are being sent in for Autism Society .Org.
So far, there are ten artists on-board and we have been receiving strong support from Artists in the Plus, Google+ Open Mic Series, Let’s Talk About It, and many other shows, groups and communities. Thank you all for that!
For those that haven’t heard about the project, yet, I’ll go ahead and share the first press release with you. The original is a publicly available document on Google Drive which we would encourage you to share with the appropriate folks in your news lists.
For immediate release.

Worldwide, on-line
G+ Musicians for Autism Awareness ProjectThe G+ Musicians for Autism Awareness Project launched yesterday via music and medical communities on Google Plus ( on-line social network ) is ready to kick off at full steam. Inspired during conversation on the sometimes controversial “Let’s Talk About It” hangout show hosted by George Miller, the initiative to spread awareness of autism and promote good works hopes to unite independent musicians and the public via songs and discussion.
Musicians who use Google Plus (G+) are volunteering their original songs as digital downloads and giving all proceeds that exceed the direct cost of the project to Autism-Society.org. A special website has been set up with information about the project origin, information about autism and autism charities, and a growing library of songs for download.
G+MAA (#gmaa) has been in contact with a representative of Autism-Society.org and are happy to say that the good folks there are pleased to hear about the project, to say the least. We will be doing our best to arrange an ongoing public conversation with Autism-Society and hope to have them join us for a panel discussion of the effects of Autism later this month.
Also in the works are special musical hangout shows via Google’s Hangouts On Air, featuring the musicians involved, live performances and interviews about the reasons they decided to throw their support behind this fledgling project.
G+ Musicians For Autism Awareness song submissions will be open until at least the 21st of April, and downloads will be available all month. It is actually our hope that at the end of Autism Awareness Month, there is enough interest to keep the site functioning and doing as much good as possible.
