Gideon King & City Blog released a full length album in 2015 which led Huffington Post to declare Gideon King as a “musical genius”. A rising force in the NYC jazz scene having worked with John Scofield and members of Steely Dan, GKCB is preparing for the release of a new album titled Upscale Madhouse.
Although the album isn’t available until later this year, the first single, Fake It On Facebook, is available to the public. Embracing a soft rock, jazz-infused soundbed, Fake It On Facebook digs deep into the photoshopping phenomenon that has led internet users all over the world to do whatever is necessary through image editing software and pre-programmed filters to make themselves look perfect…in every single photo they upload.
Calling out the smoke, mirrors and lies, GKCB rocks our socks off with a funky, jazz-laden arrangement of stimulating, energizing, invigorating easy listening frequencies.
Be sure to buckle up for the killer solo that takes off around the 3 minute mark. What a ride!
The tune Fake It On Facebook for example is kinda based on this woman who hitched up with a wealthy guy who was 5,243 years her senior. The whole thing was sort of funny but desperate on a multitude of levels. People photoshop their lives on Facebook with great deliberation, but they are still animals in their natural habitat. It is what it is.”
Be sure to jam Fake It On Facebook on Spotify and add it to your playlist(s).
