Every so often I receive music that, upon listening, I find myself with that gut-tugging feeling that I have stumbled upon something special…
The challenge then becomes how to translate that feeling into words that truly capture the essence…words that will make you listen, click links and hopefully support the artist.
I’m listening through NYC based rock/pop singer-songwriter Gert Taberner’s new Fallen EP, for the third time, and I’m still searching for those words folks.
Each of these three songs display a level of artistry, musicianship and song crafting that you do not see too often from a solo singer/songwriter.
Sure, there are hundreds, even thousands of very talented singer/songwriters in the world but there’s just something about Gert’s music and his voice that resonate deeply into the depths of my soul.
Gert’s ability to capture emotions, observations and life experiences then transform them into engaging, memorable songs is nothing short of awesomesauce.
Joining Gert on this EP are the talents of Sawyer Junger (acoustic guitar and lead guitar), David Tallarico on bass, Sina Maloufi playing lead guitar, Nick Babey on drums and Jaclyn Turville providing some sweet backing vocals.
Fallen is now streaming on Soundcloud and Bandcamp. The video for the single Fallen is on YouTube.
