George Woods (Boston, MA) has found the pulse with his new album, Heartbeat.
Mr. Woods presents us with a unique blend of pop, soul, funk, and folk to create a catchy style of indie folk-funk.
If you like comparisons, think James Morrison, Stevie Wonder, Ray Lamontagne, Jason Mraz or even Jack Johnson.
George began his solo adventure after his former band Birds In The Woods dissolved. But before parting ways, the band managed to reel in a win at the 2008 Boston Music Festival, receive radio spins in the U.S. and internationally, as well as being featured in national publications such as Relix Magazine. Niiiice!
In 2011, George released Technicolor Costs Too Much which he self-produced in a makeshift bedroom studio and released the album with handmade CD packaging. For Heartbeat, George upgraded to Phase 1 Studios in New York City.
No where near lacking in the songwriting skills department, George takes listeners through a storybook of personable lyrics, melodic adventures, and grooves that will keep your mind on track as you ride along these 13 songs of awesome.
I have read his stage show is full of energy and he pulls in crowds all across the Northeast. This fall he aims to expand his fan base with a national tour. If he makes it down to Middle Tennessee, we need to support him.
