Buffalo, New York based rockers Free Man have delivered a solid, rockin’, exciting new album titled Koinonia which is as much a throwback to early 90s alternative and grunge as it is a refreshingly modern collection of well crafted jams.
I was hooked on Koinonia as soon as the first song (Bashed In Your Brains) started blasting through my speakers.
I don’t really know much about the band or the musicians involved but what I can tell you is this is one of those rare instances (as a music blogger) when the music tells me everything I need to know.
Free Man‘s chemistry is undeniable. Their appeal is unavoidable. Their skills are that of master song craftsmen. Koinonia, from track 1 until track 16, will impress you again and again.

From straight up, raw rock like Bashed In Your Brains to the more mellow yet potent Breaking The Spell to the pop-appeal packed, ballad-esque Where Your Garden Grows, Free Man consistently deliver infectious, compelling songs; many of which deserve to be on rock radio alongside the current industry “hits”.
After jamming Koinonia multiple times at loud volumes, I can tell you I will be coming back to this record again and again. The songs stay with you…and leave you wanting more.
A serious amount of musical talent collides with pristine production, crispy clean mixes, and an emotional force so strong you won’t be able to avoid being pulled into the soundscapes.
Koinonia is a fully immersive alternative rock experience. Your senses and emotions will be stimulated for the entire duration of the album.
Did I mention I became an immediate fan?!
