The story behind Zak Ferentz reads more like the bio of a rapper than it does of a powerfully emotive and passionate bluesy folk rock singer/songwriter. However, Ferentz and The Felons deliver a potent blend of alternative-folk-rockin’ sounds seamlessly weaving aggressive, in-your-face guitars with the more soulful charm of Zak and his acoustic on their latest single, Hudson County.
Raised by parents who battled drug addiction forced Zak to grow up earlier than most. Lacking money and access to stability, among all else, Zak turned to a life in the streets to make ends meet. After an arrest during his teenage years, Zak knew he had to journey on a different path.
In the band’s latest single and music video, Hudson County, Zak opens up about those trials while delivering an infectious, memorable chorus that declares his plans to leave Hudson County behind.
Hudson County will hit you hard and it will drive itself deep into your emotional core. There is no dodging, ducking, or avoiding Zak’s powerful and passionate performance.
The Felons feature Zak as songwriter, lead singer and guitarist as well as Robert Dudziak (bass and guitar), Matt “Waz” Wasielewski (drums), and Rich Catalano (guitar).
