dizzybloom goes deep.
This is more than just music. This is the collective soul of a dedicated, passionate group of musicians and songwriters.
This is the sound of walking the path less traveled, being beaten off that path, and somehow finding your way back on track to soak in the golden rays of a rewarding sun after the torrential downpour.
Originally forming in 1995 in Austin, Texas, guitarist/bassist Billy R. Preston, keyboardist Juliet Gamero and vocalist Stacey Evans came together as a songwriting partnership that quickly bloomed into a full 6 piece powerpop group.
Receiving comparisons to The Sundays and Fleetwood Mac while being as diverse as ABBA all the way to Zeppelin, dizzybloom creates soulful rock and roll music with depth.
After endless 24 hour days, traveling to gigs, pouring money into promotion, recording, equipment, gas, and per diems, dizzybloom was told by an Elektra Records A&R rep they “were not sex, drugs, and rock & roll enough”.
The band met a difficult crossroad which eventually resulted in the members splitting ways.
Billy goes into great detail about the band’s history and their journey in this amazing interview.
The split happened around 2005 but by 2009 Billy Preston was already taking advantage of social media to reach out to former member Steven about a writing and recording reunion. In December 2010 dizzybloom entered Congress House Studio in Austin, Texas to record 4 songs and a cover of Aerosmith’s “Dream On”.
June 2011 brought the release of their new EP, Heroes for Ghosts.
2013 brings us their newest masterpiece, Oceans, with Amy Whitcomb providing her powerful vocal styling throughout the record.
Oceans sounds like The Who teaming up with The Cranberries for a journey through sound and soul navigated by Pink Floyd.
Uptempo, down tempo, ambient, jazzy, progressive, spiritual, powerpop for your soul rock and roll.
These are the Oceans of dizzybloom. Sail away.
