If you remember our previous Peter Calandra feature, you know we have nothing but great things to say about the composition and arrangement that went into the new album, Inner Circle.
If you still haven’t heard of Peter Calandra, I can still guarantee you’ve heard his work.
After 40 films, 2000 compositions, 37 theme packages, and performances in the Broadway productions of Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, and Little Shop of Horrors; Calandra is back with another instrumental masterpiece.
The follow up to Ashokan Memories, Inner Circle is a cinematic, and often epic, adventure through the unique aural arrangements of Calandra’s creative mind.
Each of these 13 compositions stands as it’s own masterpiece. Weaving in and out of soothing, captivating, and enchanting frequencies; the journey through Peter’s Inner Circle is one of grace and elegance.
At moments like 1 minute and 50 seconds into “Faith”, Peter shows off his versatility and ability to use unexpected transitions to change the mood, create tension, and bring a little bit of rock and roll spirit into his classical adventures.
Peter’s knowledge of music allows him the unique ability to compose seamlessly across multiple genres creating a listening experience that is…well, exactly that; a unique experience.
After listening through this one several times, I have to say Peter has improved upon his previous work delivering a refreshing collection of compositions that most definitely deserve your attention.
