As a musical jack of all trades, Dru Cutler has an impressive history fueling his momentum. To prep listeners and fans for his forthcoming album, Dru has released a 2-song EP which teases us with the A-side Oceanside and the re-imagined Leonard Cohen classic Dance Me To The End of Love as the B-side.
Oceanside delivers an intense and exhilarating soundscape fueled by powerful atmospheric frequencies, prominent bass lines which fill the lower end adding a healthy degree of impact, an acoustic guitar that varies its intensity throughout the track, and some beautiful electric guitar work that soars straight into your senses. The well mixed and precisely produced drums drive the rhythm and provide a solid foundation for this excellent jam.
The B-side, Dance Me To The End of Love, transforms the Leonard Cohen classic waltz into a grittier version perfect for late nights full of whiskey at the dance hall. Cutler’s baritone voice is the perfect complement to any Leonard Cohen remake and does really well at maintaining the feel of the original while turning it into a refreshing rendition. Dru has successfully given new life to a vintage classic.
Based on these two singles, I can’t wait for the full length album.
