Drizzy may have dropped the ball by postponing some of his highly demanded recent tour dates, but don’t worry.
His recent announcement focused on his new project tentatively titled More Life. Unlike some previous projects, this release will reportedly not be a mixtape but rather a playlist of original material. It will hit the record racks in December of 2016. In a recent statement Drake also told the press: “I want to give you a collection of songs that become the soundtrack to your life, so this [is] More Life: The Playlist. [It’s] dropping in December. All original music from me.
Drake also gave his fans a few tuneful treats in the form of three new songs and a remix. The new songs are “Two Birds, One Stone,” “Sneakin'” with guest act 21 Savage and “Fake Love”. The remix was done with U.K. artist Santan Dave’s “Wanna Know.” On “Wanna Know” Drake makes barely veiled references to people with whom he has had issues. He raps: “I love to see a fake n**** go broke/I don’t run to Twitter with the things I know/I fall back to see how it unfolds.”
He is a bit clearer with his call out on his track “Two Birds, One Stone.” He asks: “Free C5, how the fuck we got the boss waiting?” Later he addresses Lil Wayne and takes more personal shots at Kid Cudi, who had dissed him on Twitter. Drake raps “I like your old sh*t, but wasn’t in love with the latest.” He adds: “You were the Man on the Moon, now you just go through your phases/Life of the angry and famous.” He concludes the cut questioning: “Look what happens soon as you talk to me crazy/Is you crazy?” Some fans and critics alike are unsure if Drake is speaking to Pusha T although most acknowledge that this is a direct shot at Kid Cudi.
Demand for Drake’s tour remain some of the highest in the industry and even rival major sports teams. In his last stop to D.C., Drake tickets were almost triple the price of Wizards and Nationals tickets.
Drake concluded: “You might hear some tunes from the family on there [on the new album]. [I’m] just really excited. I just want to celebrate life. More life. That’s what we live by. That’s something we [should] not take for granted.”
More Life is due out sometime in December, with an official date yet to be announced
