I have never been a fan of one-hit wonders so it’s always a pleasure when a band we have reviewed before sends us a new album.
As soon as I clicked play on Blues In The Key of Sea by Doug Prescott Band, I began to smile and I began jamming out until the music stopped.
Not only does this new album rock in your favorite key of blues but the lyricism is profound, truthful, and awakening.
Doug hails from Chapel Hill, North Carolina and his music is “truly American”. With influences such as Little Feat, The Neville Brothers, and Jimmy Buffet, Doug Prescott writes everything from love ballads to political rockers.
What’s the most important element of Doug songwriting?
His honesty.
Similar to many of your favorite superheroes, Mr. Prescott has 2 personalities.
During daytime hours Doug goes by the name of Mr. Guild and he is the president and CEO of Prescott Environmental Associates. This is a consulting firm that helps clients keep operations clean and green.

When Mr. Guild takes the stage he becomes Doug Prescott. Mr. Prescott uses his music to point out corporate excess and open our eyes to many things we, otherwise, would not see.
Blues in the Key of Sea features an all-star lineup including Billy Pain and Tony Bowman. The album was produced by Tony Bowman, Doug Prescott, and Tom Maxwell.
