After spending 49 years in the music industry including working with heavyweights such as Bob Babbitt of the Funk Brothers and Motown fame, Jim Kirby keyboardist for the late and greats Roy Orbison and Jimi Hendrix, Mark Beckett of Muscle Shoals fame, and Dan Furmanik top Nashville session player; what’s next for Don Beck?
Playing more music, writing more songs and releasing more albums of course!
With over 300 songs in his crates, Don Beck is no stranger nor a newbie to the practice of crafting excellent tunes.
Beck’s newest project, Shadows of Dreams, is now available on CD Baby.
Packed with twelve songs of excellent melodic rock, Don’s musicianship and ability to craft great songs cannot be denied.
From the harder rockin’ tracks like “Fallen Angels” and “Forty Years Ago” to the softer ballads such as “Holly Ann” or “Eliza”, Don Beck sprinkles influences from rock, blues, and pop classics into his arrangements.
As much as I am enjoying the musicianship and the mixes on this record, my one and only criticism are the various spots Don’s voice wanders a tad off key. Outside of that, Don has perfected his ability to craft catchy, meaningful songs and there is no denying that.
Be sure to keep your ears out for more from Don Beck. He has no plans of slowing down any time soon.
