My name is Dj Needlz, I’m from Greenville, Mississippi…But live in Houston, Texas. I fell in luv with Skratchin’ back in the 80’s
What drove you to move to Texas to grow your career as a turntablist?
Greenville really didn’t have a Hip-Hop or Scratch scene, So after entering alot of Dj Battles in Houston, I decided to move there
Who or what are your influences? When did you first hear or see someone scratching?
My influences are X-Men, X-Ecutioners, Dj Rob Swift, Dj Qbert, D-Styles, ShortKut, Dj Craze, Dj Klever, P-Trix, GrandMaster Roc Raida (R.I.P.), Total Eclipse, Mista Sinsta, I first saw someone scratching was World Famous Supreme Team “Buffalo Gals” Malcolm McLaren
What’s one thing you can tell someone about Skratching that you wish you knew when you first started?
I’ll tell them, just listen to that scratch sound, Its just an amazing sound
What equipment do you use? Do you have a favorite piece of gear?
I use two turntables and one mixer…One 06 PMC Vestax Mixer and one Technic Turntable and one PDX Turntable with Serato Scratch Live and Serato Control Records with Dicers…My favorite piece of gear is my 06 pmc vestax mixer and my pdx turntable
What was the last song you listened to?
Malcolm McLaren And The World Famous Supreme Team “Buffalo Gals”, Just luv that song…
Do you have a favorite record you love to use for Skratching?
Yeah, My Super Seal with Scratchy Seal on the cover
What style(s) of music do you enjoy listening to when you are not skratching?
EDM (Electronic Dance Music) Electronic Music, Pop Music, 80’s Pop, 80’s Hip-Hop, Rock Music, some Metal, depend on what it is…Really ALL MUSIC
