New Jersey based metalcore outfit Dig Two Graves have delivered a face meltin’, genre blending EP, Deathwish, that I consider a breath of fresh air into a genre that has a tendency to be redundant and filled with bands who all sound similar but not necessarily distinct.
You could call them progressive metal, metalcore, hardcore, nu-metal or whatever you desire but the one thing you cannot deny about Dig Two Graves is their unrelenting motivation to create something different and all their own. By combining elements of progressive metal, djent, EDM and dream pop, this crew of rockers maintains a fine balance between radio friendly pop appeal and completely melting your face off .
Seamlessly weaving melodically rich, pop friendly musical movements that quickly transition into gut churning, neck breaking, mosh pit worthy breakdowns, Dig Two Graves could be considered power pop that isn’t afraid to slam you in the face with angry, guttural screams that could potentially send large, much fiercer mammals running for their dens.
Deathwish is a major winner in my book. It’s been a while since I’ve been so pumped up by music in this genre!
