Ooooooohhhh baby! It’s time to pull out the pinstripe suit, shine the shoes, and tilt your hat just the right way for an amazing night at the jazz club.
Atlanta’s Danii Roundtree is performing and boy does she emanate the elegance, pizzazz, and pure essence of everything I love about soul infused, retro jazz.
Fresh off her performance at the 40th Annual Atlanta Jazz Festival, Danii is preparing to release her forthcoming album Memoirs.
Fortunately, I have an advance copy. The kids are in bed. I’ve got a fresh, chilled cocktail on a nice bed of ice cubes and my bedroom just turned into the classiest jazz joint on this side of Sacramento.

Danii approaches the microphone and her craft with an unrelenting confidence. When she begins to sing, she captures your very essence and refuses to let go until the song is over.
Then the next song begins… Even though you needed to run to the men’s room, you find yourself settling back down as the band catches you in this fine moment of not wanting this moment to end.
That’s right, Danii Roundtree‘s new album is that smooth. It’s that sexy. It’s that powerful. It’s everything a great jazz, swing, retro, soul album should be!
Memoirs is an album written from true life events. We all have that one love story that ends before it starts. And I just so happen to be a singer/ songwriter who documents through song. This album is literally a collection of my memoirs. All the records are personal. The sound has a throwback feel that is Jazz-oriented with Funk and Soul elements; cleverly coined as ‘Retro’. I hope to one-day transition into acting, so I wrote the album as though it was a never-ending Retro movie soundtrack. Ultimately, with the end goal of its contents being put in television, film, commercials, and one day becoming its own short film,” says Danii.
You can jam the lead single Crave on Soundcloud.

Memoirs is due out this summer. It is well worth the wait!
