Musician and composer Dan Costa has arrived with an excellent album full of cultural converging arrangements titled Suite Três Rios.
Recorded in Brazil, Suite Três Rios is a blending of elements from Brazilian rhythms with the intricacy and elegance of jazz and classical styles.
Raised in the UK by Italian and Portuguese parents, Dan is the human form of what Suite Três Rios represents creatively and musically; a converging of cultures and influences into an appealing and engaging package.
Dan’s understanding of music and the styles he loves goes far beyond that of the average musician. Below are some of Costa’s accomplishments so far,
- studied classical piano for six years at the Académie de Musique Rainier III in Monaco,
- further training at the Académie Internationale d’Été de Nice in France plus the Aurora Music Star Festival in Sweden,
- awarded a diploma with merit in modern music performance at Sir Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts,
- studied at the Escola Superior de Música, Artes e Espectáculo in Portugal, where he graduated with an award for outstanding achievement,
- awarded a merit grant to study Brazilian music at UNICAMP – Universidade Estadual de Campinas (São Paulo, Brazil).
Like I said, Dan’s understanding of music goes far deeper than most.
To add icing to this Brazilian flavored musical layer cake, Dan invited an all star line up of musicians to accompany him on this album including renowned performers such as cellist Jaques Morelenbaum, sax player Teco Cardoso and singer Leila Pinheiro.
Suite Três Rios is the perfect soundtrack for relaxing, letting your mind wonder, and experiencing converging styles of music like you’ve never experienced before.
