Port Angeles, Washington based singer/songwriter/producer Scott Sullivan released four full length albums as a solo artist before forming Crushwater in 2016 alongside violinist/vocalist Chandra Johnson and drummer Casey Northern. The band immediately began building their song catalog for live performances but soon entered Dungeness Community Studios in Sequim (WA) with engineer Bill Yates to begin recording for a series of EPs.
The first EP is available. It’s titled The Cactus Storm.
The Cactus Storm is an excellent sounding collection of folk rockin’ songs with an infusion of Brit Pop and a slight punk edge, but allow me to touch on Scott Sullivan’s history for a moment.
As a surfer, snowboarder and photographer, Scott has gained international acclaim over the past decade by combining his photography and music in ways that has helped his music be received with open arms by a list of films, television shows and live events worldwide. He also has a hefty amount of experience under his belt performing in Europe, Asia and the US. Dig up his four solo albums to discover some hidden gems.
The Cactus Storm delivers a wall of sound that is vibrant with violin, glowing with guitar, rich with harmony and features a male-female interplay which further adds to the potency of the harmony rich soundscapes featured on the EP. My personal favorite is the anthemic California. I just love the vibe!
