It seems these days we can’t count on banks, but it’s pretty much a guarantee we’ll be able to count on BANKS to put on a hell of a show at Bonnaroo this June.
The young California musician is one of those “social media” cinderella stories you read about. Springing up almost over night to be mentioned by Bilboard and countles other music rags, nominated for awards by BBC and MTV and featured in a Victoria’s Secret ad all in her first year of making music in the public eye. But Jillian BANKS (Harvest/GoodYears) backs up the hype with frickin killer music! Is dark-tronica-soft-rock-house a genre? It should be.
Banks started making music at 15 while dealing with her parents’ divorce, and her songs are deeply introspective and emotional. The music she makes to go with the words of her heart is dramatic and energetic.
I’m hoping she gets one of those cool 1 a.m. slots and it’s a dry night so I can kick back and really get into it. Have a listen and let me know what you think…
