Conventus The Eye of the Heart is an album about unions.
“Conventus The Eye of the Heart is my new and ninth album born out of life’s unions and struggles. The past couple of years I encountered many unions in different disguises. I was diagnosed and cured of colon cancer. As I lay in my hospital bed last January, I listened to my roughly recorded demos of these songs and I let them show me the way to health. Music was a healing activity that held my interest and focus in my recovery.” says Norine Braun about her latest album.
This past year Norine also experienced the union of all unions when she married her partner of 25 years on Halloween (which is also their anniversary). Congratulations!!
Norine Braun is a Canadian artist with 9 albums under her belt and a long list of accolades including (but not limited to) recognition from the L.A. Music Awards and Best Female Musicians Magazine.
Her music sounds like the union of Nick Cave with Patti Smith and City and Colour deep in the Canadian forests. This is some serious jam for your musical bread.
Joining her to complete this sound is Adam Popowitz on lead guitar and bass, Elliot Polsky on drums and percussion, Alice Fraser on keys, and Huggybear Leonard on harp and penny whistle.
The group came together at Rear Window Song and Sound in Coquitlam, BC to create Conventus. The record was produced and engineered by Adam Popowitz.
From the funky blues-rock grooves of the band to Norine’s jazzy, folk-hearted, soulful gospel voice, Conventus The Eye of the Heart is a powerful union of creative talents.
