We’re excited to share the latest single from Zepparella drummer Clementine Moss—“Hey Sweetheart”—a tender, slow-burning groove that flows like a love letter whispered after midnight. The track is the first glimpse into her upcoming solo album, Clem & Clearlight, releasing May 30th and available on vinyl. With its soulful tone, cinematic textures, and heart-on-sleeve vulnerability, “Hey Sweetheart” introduces listeners to a deeply personal and genre-defying sound.
Co-written by Moss alongside virtuoso Italian guitarist Daniele Gottardo and keyboardist Jimi Marks (John Brothers Piano Company), “Hey Sweetheart” feels like a moment suspended in time. It’s a song that lives in the in-between—the space between heartbeats, between silence and expression. Moss’s vocal performance is haunting in its simplicity: raw, emotional, and deeply real. It’s the sound of someone saying exactly what they mean, quietly but with full conviction.
The instrumentation is lush yet restrained. Gottardo’s guitar is full of nuance—his playing doesn’t demand attention, it draws you in gently, painting emotion with every note. His seamless ability to cross genres adds a powerful musicality to the track, elevating it without ever overpowering Moss’s vocals. Marks’ contributions on keys give the song its dreamy, ambient glow, layering subtle textures that evoke smoke curling in a quiet bar or headlights cutting through fog on a late-night drive.
“Hey Sweetheart” is both a spiritual moment and a love song—anchored more in feeling than in genre. There’s a vulnerability here that doesn’t posture. It just is. The lyrics capture the push and pull of intimacy, the yearning to connect, and the quiet power of simply reaching out. It’s a mood piece, but also a confession. A gentle storm. A meditation.
Clementine Moss’s forthcoming album Clem & Clearlight is a collaboration at its core. Co-written with Gottardo—whose remarkable fluidity across styles helped shape the record’s identity—the album offers a rich emotional journey. From the dreamy heartbreak of “Hey Sweetheart” to the cosmic groove of “LT Blues,” the songs sit somewhere between a smoky bar slow dance and a road trip through the stars. Moss is joined by Marks, who brought both compositional input and evocative keyboard work, and Robert Preston on bass, rounding out a band whose chemistry feels as intuitive as it is intentional.
If “Hey Sweetheart” is any indication, Clem & Clearlight promises to be more than just an album—it’s an experience. Rooted in emotional truth, spiritual depth, and fearless vulnerability, this single offers a quiet invitation to slow down and listen with your whole heart.
If you’re open to a listen, I’d love to send you a private link or vinyl copy. I think your audience will resonate with the record’s unique blend of vibe, musicianship, and soul.
