Professional, semi-professional and amateur musicians are meeting at Victor Wooten’s Center for Music and Nature, an hour west of Nashville, on I-40, October 9 through October 16. Come to praise God as well as receive music instruction from some of Victor Wooten’s professional staff. Victor Wooten is considered by many to be the best bass player currently playing, as he has won five Grammy awards as well as “Bass Player of the Year” from Bass Player magazine three years in a row. He has scheduled one of his regular “Jam Weekends” for the 11th and 12th. Any musician willing to pay the reduced rate “jam fee” is welcome to jam along with him.
Come also to participate in Christian praise and worship with one of our several experienced worship leaders. The reason for the event is an observance of the 8-day biblical Feast of Tabernacles. This is a non-denominational event—there are no doctrinal statements or church groups to join. A quick internet search reveals thousands of groups celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles, some using the Hebrew name Sukkot.
The Bible mentions three festive times of the year (Exodus 23:14-17; 34-22-23; Deuteronomy 16:16). Most Christians know about the Passover (sometimes called Good Friday) representing the death of Christ for our sins (1 Corinthians 5:7). Also, many know the Feast of Pentecost where the Holy Spirit came upon the church (Acts 2:1-4). But less known is the fall Feast of Tabernacles, which pictures the return of Christ and His millennial reign (John 7:2, 14; Revelation 20:1-6). As the return of Christ draws closer, we need to be looking forward to that day with great rejoicing. From Handel’s “Messiah” to “Revelation Song” to “Days of Elijah”, great music has been inspired by this coming event.
There will be teachings on these items, on the spiritual gift of prophecy, Christian living, reaching people with the Gospel and the grace of God. Every teaching is followed by a question and comment section. People of all backgrounds are welcome.
