This album sounds beautiful!
The voice of Candice Russell is So Much More than the digitized files streaming through your speakers.
Let me get the good stuff out of the way first:
- at age 16, Candice won a statewide singer/songwriter contest at the Oregon Fine Arts Festival.
- in 2011 she made it to Hollywood for American Idol, as a teenager.
- in 2012 she made it to the final round as a singer/songwriter at AMTC’s Shine Event in Orlando
Delivering a bed of music infused with rock, pop, and modern country, Candice Russell does not disappoint. From uptempo poppy singles to more chilled out emotional string pullers, So Much More is an album packed full of well crafted songs.
The song “Remember” is a very personal, deep song written from the perspective of Candice’s friend Nhu. Nhu’s story is not one that is easy to digest as she was sold into sex slavery in Cambodia when she was a child.
Eventually adopted by American parents, Nhu has risen above her struggle.
Nhu and her parents have started an outreach of building and staffing homes called “Remember Nhu.” Nhu now travels and speaks about her story and helps raise funds to build the homes worldwide. There are now two Remember Nhu homes in Cambodia that rescue young ladies from sex slavery and twenty homes and growing world wide.
Candice’s song, “Remember”, is meant to provide encouragement to those who might be trapped in less than desirable situations as well as a call to action to those who are able to provide their help.
Above all Candice wants everyone to remember to believe for a better day.
